How To Create A Killer Presentation
So we’ve all had to sit through boring presentations at some point in our lives, and with the invention of slide shows some presentations have been killer. Now what made those killer slideshow presentations different from the boring ones? Here are some tips and tricks to help you get that awesome presentation that you need.
Tip number one, you’ll want an awesome opening slide. Make it eye catching! Strong, bold colors and large text are the best way to do this along with possibly an interesting out of the ordinary image. You want to capture your audience’s attention right from the beginning. Make them think that it will be worth their while to pay attention to the information you’re going to present.
You’ll want a title that creates some intrigue. Something that makes the audience go , “Huh, maybe I should pay attention to this.” Come up with something that shocks them, words that aren’t conventionally seen in a presentation or that bring to mind something that may be taboo (obviously your presentation isn’t, you’re just trying to get attention). A question may be a good title to have, some people have questions that they never ask what the answer is, this may draw them in.
Pick a theme throughout the slide and stick to it. Bouncing around too much might confuse your audience and therefore make them lose interest. You want your audience paying more attention to your information within the presentation, not to the colors that are constantly changing in your slide or its format.
Keep the text on each slide to a minimum. Have your main points and that’s it. Use note cards for yourself in order to be able to remember and talk about all the information you want. You are presenting it to them, not putting it up there for them to read. No one wants to sit there through a long presentation and have to read every slide like a novel.
With that in mind you should limit it to one idea per slide. Any more than that and you are going to start having too much reading going on for it being a presentation. This also makes it much easier to understand the separate points you are trying to get across.
Number your points. This keeps your structure clear and precise as to what information they are supposed to be taking in. It reduces any confusion they may encounter.
Spice certain points up with interesting font. If you really want something to particularly stand out on a slide show this is your best bet. The audience is more likely to remember something that was different from the rest of the slide. This also includes the proper placement of rotating text. If it’s not level that might stick out in a person’s mind or make the slide feel more natural.
Use stunning visuals! Visuals boost the amount of information that an audience member recalls. For some reason humans better recall visual information. So use this to your advantage.
Overall keep your slide show simple! This makes a slide show more interesting than anything. Too much information or too many things going on in a presentation causes headaches with the audience.
Follow these steps and you are sure to have an awesome presentation. The audience will love your presentation and applaud you on a job well done.
