The Culture Created By Leaders
Are you fit to be a leader or a manger? Let’s take a minute to figure out the difference between a leader and a manager and then you can categorize yourself accordingly. A leader tends to think strategically and to create a vision. Leaders also challenge, motivate, inspire, and encourage individuals around them to aid in the overall success of a company or business. Whereas managers maintain the status quo, monitor the situation, communicate and measure results so they could provide adequate feedback.
What is Leadership
Leadership is a quality and characteristic that many people possess; however, only a select few know how to unveil. A leader is therefore a very significant component to the success of any business or company.
Since the number of people obtaining college degrees is increasing at an exponential rate, corporations and businesses within our society are trying to allocate more jobs. However, there are only a select number of jobs available.
Set Yourself Apart
With hundreds if not hundreds of thousands of individuals with similar college educations competing within the same field for a handful of jobs companies are now looking at the next best thing. What tends to set you apart from the other people applying for the same position? Companies are looking for a unique individual which will set their company apart from other similar companies. In essence, these companies are looking for leaders that will create the results that the company wants rather than wait around for things to happen.
Take for instance, a person decides to join a company because of the leaders and the benefit packages available. Although they are now part of the company, they may not stay long because of the relationship with management or supervisors. The trust employees have in management is declining.
Make the Vision Clear
Employees must clearly recognize the vision of both management and the company. The expectations set for employees must be effectively communicated to them to ensure they meet their target goals. Progress should be discussed to ensure consistent successful outcomes.
Leaders must value their values and lead by example to create the culture they want within the company. They should provide guidelines to reduce confusion as well as set parameters on acceptable and unacceptable types of behavior. Less than half of managers behave in a manner that is consistent with company values. This exemplifies the disconnect which exists between management and employees.
Be a Role Model
Be a role model and get engaged. You should work productively everyday instead of simply doing what is necessary to avoid being fired. An engaged team leads to a lower staff turnover ratio, increased productivity, and increased customer loyalty which yields higher profits. What company does not want higher profitability?
A true leader helps to create other leaders or brings other leaders to the forefront. Leadership is by far the best way to go, which helps to produce successful outcomes.
