Create a Visually Stunning Graphic Presentation
Humans are inherently visual creatures. You can lecture at a group of people for an hour, but the only thing they’ll remember from that lecture are the visual graphics you brought along to compliment your information! That’s why creating a stunning graphic presentation that accompanies the story you’re sharing is so important – stunning graphics create memories and memories create opportunities for information retention. Here’s how you do it!
What Did the Last Billboard You Saw Say?
When you think of creating a graphic presentation, you’ve got to think like an advertising executive who is designing a roadside billboard. Billboards only have about 30 seconds to effectively market a business to a driver. You’ve got the same amount of time in a presentation with your graphics before your audience will judge that graphic as valid and useful or invalid. Your message should be clear and concise – if it can’t be found in the graphic, people won’t hear it either.
How Powerful Is the Image You Use?
The more unique and stunning your graphic image is, the more memorable it will be for people. Because of that, if you utilize an image that coordinates with the information that you’re sharing, you’ll be able to engage more people with each image. You’re showing an overall concept, not just a pretty visual image that can make people go “Oooh!” Don’t be afraid to utilize all of the resources available to you, from public domain images to your own photographs to make the right impact.
Is the Font Being Used Important?
The font you use for your graphics is much more important than most people think. Each font speaks an unconscious reflection of yourself and your message and the wrong message can cause people to discount you immediately. Serif fonts, for example, speak of formality and tradition. Serif fonts speak more to modern techniques and change. Modern fonts speak to informality. Use the right font and you’ll reinforce your message. Use the wrong font… well, you might as well just go home, because you’ll be wasting your time.
Don’t Be Afraid of Symbols!
Because people are so graphically inclined, simple symbols that are included with your text can help to reinforce the information presented on a slide. When you see a cross, what immediately comes to mind? What about a thumbs-up graphic? What about a half moon? There are symbols that are associated with certain subjects and content and this helps people to reinforce their comfort levels with what you’re speaking about.
Are You Ready To Create a Stunning Graphic?
If you aren’t including graphics that are visually stunning with the stories you’re telling, then you’re only achieving a partial level of success. Stunning images, accompanied by clear and concise information, will help you better communicate to others a specific message of value. When you can do that, you’ll leave people confident in that value you’ve communicated and leave them wanting more. What more can you ask than that?
