ENTP (Extraverted Intuitive Thinking Perceiving) personalities can be described as people that are particularly clever. They will be able to go through several different ideas at the same time and still be able to explain all of the ideas with the utmost amount of detail. They are able to make jokes that are incredibly funny and accurate at the same time.
These personalities love to debate for their own enjoyment and to show off how great they are at debating. At times, they may have a perverse sense of humor and will always play the devil’s advocate. This can prove to be difficult for others to understand or accept as they may see the debating as a nuisance.
Commonly referred to as “verbal gymnasts”, ENTPs are ingenious and innovative when it comes to solving problems. At times, they may even find that they are outsmarting themselves. This can be difficult to deal with as they may be prone to cutting corners without taking rules into consideration or they may try to juggle too many tasks at once that they inevitably fail.
At home, they will be interested in toys and other tools that they can use to sharpen their physical and intellectual skills. Once the toys or tools have been used and become familiar, they will immediately be replaced.
When stressful situations arise, ENTPs will become concerned with their freedom and how the needs of other people will threaten it. They will act on their impulses and try to rationalize it. If the stress becomes worse, they will ignore the rules or even go against them as they’ll believe that they do not apply to them. During this phase of rebellion they will become incredibly reliant on the people around them to get stability in their lives. They will also rely on other people to take care of the responsibilities or chores that they aren’t interested in doing.
If people are dissatisfied with them, they will see it as a form of manipulation and they will become intolerant in an unpredictable way. This can lead to ENTPs doing whatever they want and not limiting the options of what they can do based on their obligations. If they take the steps to become responsible for the situations that they make, they will be able to avoid their dysfunctional attitude. They will need to work on becoming more self-disciplined and focused in order to make them more trustworthy in the eyes of others.
