ESTJ is one of the sixteen personality types as classified by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or MBTI. ESTJ is an acronym for extraversion, sensing, thinking and judgment.
E is for Extraversion
People with ESTJ personality are outgoing. They rejoice their associations or camaraderie with others and would often be more interested in interactions with others than keeping to oneself. They like to be among people and they love to socialize.
S is for Sensing
A person with ESTJ personality will be sensible or in other words, pragmatic. He or she will be drawn more by what is tangible or concrete than what is abstract or intangible.
T is for Thinking
The ‘T’ is thinking and that makes such a personality very objective. People with this personality will always give priority to facts, logic, rational or objective assessment. They would not focus on sentiments, emotions, personal preferences or biases.
J is for Judgment
This propels a person to be proactive and keen to plan their actions and routines. Such an attribute makes a person like predictability and the sense of being in control of situations.
Some of the most popular people with ESTJ personality type are George W. Bush, James Monroe, Alec Baldwin, Nancy Grace, Andrew Jackson, Franklin Pierce, William Henry Harrison and John D. Rockefeller.
People with ESTJ characteristics or personality would be dedicated, determined and strong willed, honest and frank. ESTJ characteristics are most commonly found in executives or head honchos of major companies in the world. They can take decisions and follow through. They remain focused on the objective and are dedicated enough to pursue the course.
They can overcome challenges, routine boredom and complexities to achieve the goal. Their strong willpower also helps in this regard. Such people are very honest and reliable. They would be frank with the facts, pragmatic with the matter at hand, they love order and can be extremely reliable. They are usually loyal to whoever or whatever they are committed to. Such people are patient, efficient organizers and planners.
Owing to their headstrong approach, people with ESTJ characteristics may appear or actually be stubborn. They are often inflexible and can be quite uncomfortable when the situations aren’t conventional or as expected. Since they have a way of getting things done, if that way doesn’t work or if the objective is not accomplished then they may be clueless at a given moment. Such personalities have a tendency to become judgmental, may give too much importance to their social status, may not relax easily and would struggle with emotions, especially the expression of emotions.
