Changing Your Perception And Persona
How do you want to be perceived by others? Do you want to be forgotten and easily overlooked or do you want to have charisma that everyone remembers and likes? Whether you are improving personally or professionally there are some steps you can follow to achieve more likability and presentation to win people to your idea or become a more likable person. This can be done by improving what you already have and stepping it up a notch or changing the entire way you do things.
First Impressions Count
Some don’t like to believe that first impressions mean a lot but they do. Everything from the way you dress to the look on your face can have detrimental effects on how others will perceive you. When meeting someone for the first time or presenting to a group of people, a smile with your face and eyes can leave a lasting impression. People never forget how you make them feel so, if you put off a vibrant smile and good spirit people will reciprocate and be more open to what you want.
Dress The Part
Your attire is equally important as your smile and will also help you to achieve the trustworthiness or charisma you may be looking to attain. If you come under dressed you appear to not care about whom you are meeting with and shows disrespect to your recipient. While overdressing may make you look conceited or above others. The way you dress should be equal to those you are preparing to meet, so that you continue to make those around you feel good in your presence.
Consider Your Interaction
Next thing to consider is how to interact after the initial greeting. You need to be clear and direct while still grabbing and keeping the attention of your peers. If you become to wordy with details you can lose the initial feelings you have gained in your greeting. A common ground or story that relates you to the group or peer is great to keep them involved while you still make a short point about who you are or what idea you may be trying to convey to them.
Sometimes holding your composure and keeping your focus can lead you to be discouraged but endurance is key to being successful in your endeavor to become what you want. You have to push forward when your first attempts to win people over do not succeed. Try and try again and if the first person you deal with is difficult master your skill and still reach out to others with your idea. Create many outlets and opportunities to improve by using all resources available to get yourself out there. Present yourself repeatedly and improve upon your presentation consistently. If you do not get the reaction you want improve your presentation of your dream or personality.
Whatever you are trying to achieve for yourself remember to be informative and helpful. People love to be informed and feel like you are an asset to them. Stay focused on the goal at hand by removing distractions and detours to other endeavors.
