Also known as Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging, this is one of the most intriguing personality types on the Myers-Briggs Type indicator. When it comes to the concept of whether or not there are any differences between INFJ women and INFJ men, there are a few things that are going to strike you as fascinating.
Regardless of gender, these are people who are typically known as protectors. There are some fascinating personality traits that can be found across both genders, and there are some differences between the genders that should be noted, as well.
General INFJ Traits
As mentioned before, the typical INFJ is someone who is also going to be known as the protector. Consider the words that define the label itself. These individuals will be gentle, will be known to care for others a great deal, and will often display an extremely complex, layered level of intuitiveness. Of all the personality types that can be found on the Myers-Briggs Type indicator, this is considered to be the rarest of them all. Roughly one percent of the population is considered to have this personality type.
Creativity and artistic leanings are common amongst INFJ men and INFJ women. They also believe in order, and they very often tend to believe in taking a systematic approach to things. You will notice this in the way they constantly search for the best way to accomplish things in their lives. They are individuals who are going to constantly seek to define and redefine the various components that make up their lives. In terms of outside circumstances and individuals, an INFJ personality type will often display a fantastic intuitiveness. They will reveal their ability to understand a situation or a person without a ton of background information beforehand.
In short, an INFJ is someone who is going to be patient, nurturing, devoted to the things and people they care about, extremely protective of those people and things. They will often be sensitive and concerned towards the feelings of those around them. They are going to look for relationships that will span the whole of their lives, and they will tend to demand high expectations of both themselves and others.
On the flipside of things, an INFJ can also be someone who tends to hold back parts of their true personalities. This can naturally create problems during long-term relationships. They are not going to be particularly good with money, and the day-to-day trivialities of life are going to bore them for the most part, potentially to the point of eluding them. They will also intensely dislike being criticized, and they will go to great lengths to avoid conflicts with others. The fact that they also tend to demand a lot of themselves and others is a component to their personalities that can create problems within themselves, in addition to problems within their relationships with others.
It is not unreasonable for an INFJ man to be someone who is not necessarily materialistic, but wants to still surround themselves with the best of things. They are also going to be the type of guys who want to be noticed by others, but they are not going to demand they be considered to be the center of attention.
An INFJ man is also going to be someone who tends to care very much about their appearance. However, much in the same way that wanting to be surrounded by the best of things does not make them materialistic, an INFJ is not someone who would be considered shallow or superficial. Interestingly enough, an INFJ man may come across as distant or cold to someone who has met them for the first time. However, once you do get to know them, you will find them to be sensitive, emotionally deep individuals.
You will also note that INFJ men can be extremely stubborn, and will rarely exist in the middle of an opinion or idea. They tend to be all-or-nothing types.
An INFJ woman is going to be someone who is very keenly tuned in with their emotions. This defines many of their relationships, the intensity of those relationships, and how long those relationships can last. For example, an INFJ woman is going to be someone who is going to be fiercely protective of their children. If they are in a relationship with someone who is beginning to lose interest in them, a woman who identifies as INFJ on the Briggs-Meyer Type indicator is going to be the type of person who works extremely hard at keeping the relationship going.
Many of the traits that are particular to INFJ women are very clearly realized in their relationships with their children. They will be intensely protective, but they will also expect great things of them, doling out strict discipline when their expectations for them are not being met.
