ISFP is one of the sixteen personality types as classified by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator or MBTI. ISFP is an acronym for introversion, sensing, feeling and perceiving.
I is for Introversion
As opposed to extraversion, introversion implies that a person is more prone to stay quiet and to himself or herself. A person would be reserved, will have very few close friends and would confide in only one or two persons. Such a person will not have and will not want to have a large social circle.
S is for Sensing
A person with ISFP personality will be sensible or in other words, pragmatic. He or she will be drawn more by what is tangible or concrete than what is abstract or intangible.
F is for Feeling
The ‘F’ is feeling as it dominates reasoning and decision making. People with such a personality are more willing to consider personal values and interpersonal relations than objectivity while making any kind of decision or choice. Logic takes a backseat.
P is for Perception
The ‘P’ is perception or perceiving. A person with ISFP personality will allow perceptions to prevail and would delay inferential analysis. They would not judge a situation or a person objectively or factually and would rather have their perception dictate the path forward.
Some of the most popular people with ISFP personality type are Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Kevin Costner, John Travolta, Britney Spears, Elizabeth Taylor, Donald Trump, Christopher Reeve, Marie Antoinette, Millard Fillmore, Ulysses S. Grant and Warren G. Harding among others.
Known particularly for their adventurous nature, people with ISFP personality are charming and sensitive. They are often relaxed and compassionate towards others. They have a warm way of dealing with others. They don’t just care about but also relate to the emotions of their loved ones and of people whom they don’t know much personally. ISFP personality makes one imaginative, passionate and curious. It is the combination of these three traits that make ISFP people artistic. A unique attribute of the creations of ISFP personalities is that they are more visual and vivid. Art can be abstract but the artistry of such people is much more relatable.
ISFP personalities are extremely independent and that often works against them. They are a little unpredictable and they don’t like commitments. People with this personality often stay away from long term relationships and they even dislike planning ahead. They live life as it happens and don’t fuss too much about the conventional expectations of people around them.
